The students come in contact with the perspective of the Anthropology of Language and Communication and know the Greek and international reality in relation to the issues described in the content of the course.
Upon successful completion of the course the student learns to:
- recognize the goals of the Anthropology of Language
- recognize the difference between Orality and Literacy
- examine the issue of ‘language’ from a human point of view and understand the relationship between language and culture
- understand the role of Language in Intercultural Communication
- know the principle of ‘cultural relativity’ in relation to cultures and languages
- understand the various power relations as expressed through language
- understand the relationship between language and ideology
- approach issues related to the study of peoples without writing.
