EFoC 3: Envisioning the Future of Communication III
The Department of Communication and Digital Media, the Laboratory of Social and Migration Studies and the Laboratory of Digital Media and Strategic Communication of the University of Western Macedonia are organizing a Scientific Conference entitled: “Envisioning the Future of Communication III: Challenges · Trends · Opportunities.”
The aim of the conference is to serve as a meeting point for academics, researchers, and professionals in the field of communication, in order to discuss the latest developments, challenges, trends, and opportunities, as well as to outline the future of communication.
The conference focuses on—but is not limited to—the following thematic areas:
Media Education / Media Literacy
Misinformation / Verification of Public Information
Freedom of the Press
Investigative Journalism
Gender and the Media / Media and Social Exclusion
Gamification / Serious Games / Multimedia Applications / Extended Reality / Digital Storytelling in Communication
“Amusing Ourselves to Death” – 40 Years Since the Publication of Neil Postman’s Book
Contemporary Forms of Journalism, Participatory Storytelling, Data-driven Narratives, Online Communities
Artificial Intelligence in Communication
Strategic Communication and Crisis Communication Management
Marketing and Communication
Culture and Communication
Artificial Intelligence in Business: Challenges and Opportunities (communication and customer relationship management, customer service, digital marketing, audience segmentation, customer satisfaction and sentiment analysis, product recommendations, pattern discovery, etc.)
The conference will be held with both in-person and remote presentations using Zoom, and will be broadcast online (live streaming) via YouTube, allowing those who are unable to attend in person to participate.
Interested researchers, academics, and professionals are invited to submit an abstract of their papers/presentations (200–250 words), either in English or Greek (the conference will be bilingual), by Tuesday, September 30, 2025, via the following link: https://cmt3.research.microsoft.com/EFoC2025
The abstract should include the title of the paper/presentation, its purpose and objectives, methodology (where applicable), applications, and key findings/conclusions.
Evaluation of Abstracts
Each submitted abstract will be subject to anonymous review by two (2) members of the Scientific Committee, based on scientific ethics, quality, and originality. The evaluation outcome may be acceptance for presentation at the conference, conditional acceptance, or rejection. Accepted papers will be presented during the conference. Each presentation will have a maximum duration of 15 minutes.
Important Dates
Extended deadline for the submission of abstracts (200–250 words): September 30, 2025
Notification of abstract acceptance: October 31, 2025
Presentation of papers / Conference dates: December 8–10, 2025
Submission of papers for the Conference Proceedings (in English only, optional): March 31, 2026
Participation Fee for Presenters (per person)
Academics, postdoctoral researchers, professionals, researchers: €60
PhD candidates, postgraduate students: €20
Undergraduate students: Free
Attendance at the conference is free of charge.
Submission of Abstracts
For abstract submission, please use the following link: https://cmt3.research.
First, you will need to create an account on the CMT platform. Then, as an author, select “Create new submission” at the top left and follow the steps provided to complete your abstract submission.
Upon completion of the conference, a certificate of attendance and/or a certificate of presentation will be sent electronically (via email) to those who request it. In order to prepare and send the certificate of participation, it is necessary to complete the registration form that will be made available via a link during the conference days.
Conference Proceedings
Each full paper submitted by March 31, 2026 will be reviewed for possible inclusion in the Conference Proceedings.
- The papers must be written in English only and should be up to 5,000 words in length (+/-10%, including references).
- References/bibliography should follow APA style, 7th edition (guidelines).
- Additionally, the text should be written in Times New Roman, font size 11, with 1.15 line spacing. All papers must include an abstract of approximately 150 words.
- All submissions should be made through the EFoC proceedings online submission system.
Regarding the publication schedule, we expect to receive the first versions of your papers by March 31, 2026. After evaluation, the papers will be returned to their authors during the summer of 2026 for revisions. Once the revision process is completed by the authors, we expect to receive your final papers by October 31, 2026, so that the proceedings volume can be published by the end of 2026, approximately one year after the Conference.
In order for a paper to be included in the conference proceedings, it must have been presented at the conference.
Finally, please note that each paper submitted for publication in the Conference Proceedings must be original and not previously published or simultaneously submitted to the proceedings of other conferences or to any journal, in compliance with the policy on non-plagiarism.
